Galaxy Personnel is seeking experienced Boilermakers to cover various opportunities across day or afternoon shifts. These roles are based in the South Eastern suburbs and are being offered initially on a labour hire basis with the view to permanency for the right candidate.

Duties:

 Heavy Fabrication- (Heavy structural steel engineering experience)

• Reading drawings and specifications to determine the correct set-up process and welding processes.
• Understanding the industry standards and requirements whilst maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
• Assembling heavy structural parts based on specifications provided,
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of fabricated members
• Using thermal cutting equipment on materials, cleaning and preparing surfaces for welding
• Preheating materials to the correct temperatures prior to welding processes
• Working with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, measuring tools, weld gauges
• Working with Power tools such as buffing wheels, drills, polishers, and grinders.
• Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Welding with GMAW and FCAW welding, oxyacetylene cutting equipment and plasma cutting equipment, Flame heating, bending.
• Adhering to OHS procedures that are required to complete a job safely, including the use of the required (PPE) as required.

Light weight Fabrication:

• Reading drawings and specifications to determine the correct set-up process and welding processes.
• Understanding the industry standards and requirements.
• Assembling light metal parts and components based on specifications provided.
• Use of hand tools such as hammers, chisels, measuring tools, weld gauges.
• Use of power tools such as buffing wheels, drills, polishers, and grinders.
• Welding with GMAW, GTAW and MMAW welding, oxyacetylene equipment and plasma cutting equipment.
• Using press bending machine, cropper & bandsaw.
• Working with pipe bending equipment
• Adhering to OHS procedures that are required to complete a job safely and wearing all the correct PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements:

• Australian AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication or equivalent
• At least three years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to work alone while being supported in a small team environment.
• Good communication skills are a must both written and verbal.
